Year 7 Catch Up Premium
What is the Catch-up Premium?
The Catch-Up Premium was introduced in January 2013 and has since provided our school with additional funding for each Year 7 student who did not achieve the ‘expected standard’ in grammar, spelling, reading and/or mathematics at the end of Key Stage 2 (KS2). This funding is used to provide literacy and numeracy interventions for underachieving students in Year 7, in order that they are given the opportunity to ‘catch-up’ as quickly as possible.
Schools can make their own decisions about how the grant is best used in context of their existing strategies to help under-performing students’ catch-up.
At the end of Key Stage 2, children are summatively assessed in both English and maths; it is expected that children reach a scaled score of 100 or more to have ‘met the expected standard’ for a child transitioning to secondary school. Those pupils not meeting the 'expected standard' determines the current cohort of pupils eligible for the Year 7 Catch-Up Interventions.
