At Penwortham Priory Academy we pride ourselves on a strong and successful transition programme. This allows our new students a smooth and enjoyable transition from primary school to Priory.

Our programme of transition is wide ranging and spans the full academic year. We work very closely with our feeder primary schools throughout the year as well as a number of opportunities for Years 4, 5 and 6 students to visit Priory.

A number of our staff work in the primary schools on exciting projects including ICT, Maths, Science, Physical Education and Design & Technology.

Mrs Farley, Transition Manager, can be contacted via email at l.farley@priory.lancs.sch.uk

Facebook Group for New Intake

We have set up a Facebook group exclusively for parents whose children are joining us from September 2025. Whilst we will post bulletins in the group, these will only be reinforcements and reminders of information that have already been issued directly to parents.  In addition, it will also act as a forum for you to ask general questions and for everyone to get to know one another.   It will remain open until the end of the Autumn term 2025.

Click on the link to join.  You will then be asked to provide the name of your child before being accepted to the group.

Summer School

There is a section on the data collection form for parents of 2025 intake to book a place on our Summer School which will run on Tues, 19 August and Weds, 20 August. This exciting opportunity is free and only open to all incoming Year 7 pupils.  We hope that as many pupils as possible attend – even if just for one of the days (although we hope you can join us for both).

Enrolment for Summer School has now closed.

Arrival & Registration: Please arrive at the Sports Hall by 9:30am for registration. Use the gates next to the MUGA/Hex building. Student helpers will be on hand to guide you.

What to Bring:

  • Trainers must be worn on both days, as many activities will be practical.
  • A packed lunch, along with snacks and drinks/refillable waterbottle.
  • Check the weather forecast and bring sun cream, a sun hat, or a raincoat as needed.

Going Home:  Pupils may either make their own way home or be collected at 2.30pm. Please make arrangements with your child each day regarding how they will be getting home.

Presentation: There will be a short presentation on Wednesday where we will show a video compilation of the two days and present some certificates to pupils.  If you would like to attend this, please arrive at 2.25pm.

In Case of Emergency: The school office will be closed during Summer School. For urgent matters on the day, please contact: 07594 222259. This number will only be active on Summer School days.

If you have any questions before Summer School begins, please contact Mrs Bullock at: r.bullock@priory.lancs.sch.uk.

Mrs Bullock has already met with Mrs Farley (Head of Year 7) and Mrs Holland (SENCo) to discuss all pupils, so she is aware of any medical conditions, learning needs, or dietary requirements for the pupils who will be attending this event.
