At Penwortham Priory Academy we pride ourselves on a strong and successful transition programme. This allows our new students a smooth and enjoyable transition from primary school to Priory.

Our programme of transition is wide ranging and spans the full academic year. We work very closely with our feeder primary schools throughout the year as well as a number of opportunities for Years 4, 5 and 6 students to visit Priory.

A number of our staff work with our partner primary schools on exciting projects including ICT, Maths, Science, Physical Education and Design & Technology.

Facebook Group for 2026 Intake

Once again, we have set up a Facebook group exclusively for parents of Year 7 who are joining us from September 2026. Whilst we will post bulletins in the group, these will only be reinforcements and reminders of information that has already been issued directly to parents.  In addition, it will also act as a forum for you to ask general questions and for everyone to get to know one another.   It will remain open until the end of the Autumn term 2026.

Click on the link to join >> www.facebook.com/groups/priory2026intake You will then be asked to provide the name of your child before being accepted to the group.

First Day Arrangements

The first day of the academic year is Wednesday,  2 September. Pupils will need to arrive at school in time to be registered for 8:40am.

On the first day, Year 7 should come into the assembly hall in full Priory uniform and with a suitable bag. You will be starting your new timetable on the day, which you will be given then, so please come equipped for lessons. You are not expected to bring your PE kit with you on the first day. School will finish at the normal time of 3:10pm.

Lunch is 1:15pm, so we suggest packing a break time snack and bring a refillable water bottle. Please ensure that you bring a packed lunch for the first day (unless you are entitled to free school meals, in which case, you can bring lunch or one will be provided for you). You will receive your login details to add money on to your lunch account using SCOPay in the first couple of days. You will not be able to add money on to your account until the letter has been received.
