Mrs Gidden's cool readers club - Emily
15 July 2019
Priory’s Head of English, Mrs Gidden, has been really impressed with many of our multi-talented pupils lately and wanted to highlight their love of reading while excelling at other pursuits. This week we interviewed Year 8 pupil, Emily.
Emily wants to be a primary school teacher boosted by her love of English.
“I never get scared giving presentations in English,” said Emily, 13.
“In fact, I enjoy standing up and teaching even though my fellow students may not enjoy my teaching in class! I want to be a primary school teacher, I have always wanted to do that.”
Emily loves reading and is currently halfway through ‘Into The Water’ by Paula Hawkins, who wrote the bestseller ‘Girl On The Train.’
“It’s a murder-mystery about someone found in a pool of water. I don’t usually like murder-mystery books but I am hooked on this one.
“My favourite book is ‘The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night’ as it’s just so different from other books, written by someone who is autistic. It’s really well done.
“I also like the Geek Girl series by Holly Smale, they are funny as Geek Girl gets into loads of adventures and you can see what is going to happen but the character can’t!”
When not reading, Emily takes part in ju-jitsu with Nippon UK.
“I have an orange and white belt and I want to become a junior leader.”
