This feature is an old favourite which we had to pause when we went into lockdown last March.  Now that all our pupils can access the library again, the English department couldn't wait to show off their readers.  This week we spoke to a delightful (and very chatty!) bunch of Year 7 and Year 8 pupils about their books, and over the coming weeks we'll be introducing you to Jessica, Haniya, Jake, Thomas and Emily.

Here's what our Cool Readers Club is all about...

They stopped when Covid hit but now they’re back.  These are our reading stars put forward by their English teacher.  We interview them about their current book, what they like reading about and what they like to do when they’re not reading.

Introducing, Jayden...

We will kick it off with Year 8, Jayden.

Jayden is reading ‘Assassin’s Creed: The Secret Crusade’ by Oliver Bowden.

This is the first one in a ten-book series which has been turned into video games.

“I am about three-quarters of the way through this book and it is really gripping,” said Jayden.

“It’s about someone who is betrayed by the brotherhood and trying to gain revenge. There is a lot of killing.

“I read a lot. Every day when I get home from school I like to read for an hour as I enjoy reading.

“My favourite books are horror stories and adventure novels.

“I hope to read more of the Assassin’s Creed series.”
