Mrs Gidden's cool reader's club - Layla

Here's what our Cool Readers Club is all about...

These are our reading stars put forward by their English teacher.  We interview them about their current book, what they like reading about and what they like to do when they’re not reading.  Introducing Layla..

Layla H admits she is a late starter to reading Harry Potter but she is enjoying the books! 

Year 8 Layla has just finished the first in the series ‘The Philosopher’s Stone.’ 

“It is quite long!” said Layla. “I have seen the films but I prefer the books as they include a lot more which aren't in the films. I have just started the next one. 

“My favourite author is Jacqueline Wilson, who has written books such as ‘The Story of Tracy Beaker.’ I like them as they are relatable and they are like real life and based in schools. 

“I also enjoy art and English lessons, in my spare time I like colouring and making up my own stories. 

“In the future, I would like to be an author or a policewoman.” 

Mrs Gidden added, "Layla is an absolute delight in the English department; she's a librarian and goes above and beyond in lessons and competitions, regularly topping the AR and Bedrock leaderboards. If she's as devoted in her future career in the police as she is to reading, those bad guys better watch out!"
