At Priory we take great pride in our library.  This pride is reflected in the fact that we currently have around 30 pupil librarians who, on a rota basis, give up their breaks and lunchtimes to ensure its smooth running.  Without them I genuinely don’t know how the library (or myself) would survive!

So, as a reward for their commitment and to undertake training for the ‘newer’ librarians we decided to run an afterschool session, with pizza, on the final Thursday before half term.  During the session our ‘experts’ trained up the less experienced librarians on our library software, showed how we catalogue the books and offered advice on our shelving systems.

After the training, the librarians huddled into groups with large segments of delicious pizza and came up with ideas on what we could do to make the library an even more welcoming place for Priory’s pupils.  The ideas generated included themed book displays, Librarian’s Book of the Week, 'I am currently reading...', Silent Wednesdays… and the urgent need to create a library mascot!  An immense bookworm seemed popular!  Watch this space.

Another popular idea was to once again ask pupils to donate to the library any unwanted books they might have lying around at home.  This ran last year as ‘Book-a-Roo’ so again, keep an eye on the newsletter for when this launches for 2022!

A genuine thank you to all of our wonderful librarians!
