Each half term the Eco Committee organise an activity to raise the profile of all things environmental.

Earlier this half term the club introduced a poetry competition being run by Greenpeace and they are now pleased to announce Jane W (Year 9) as their winner.  Below is her entry.  Jane has won a prize and her poem has been entered to the Greenpeace UK - Poems for the Planet national competition.  Well done Jane!

The Violent Beauty of Nature

The howling winds rage,
Demolishing the sturdiest of structures,
While the whistling gales go on a rampage,
Storming into the darkness of the night.

The tremendous trees stand strong, fighting,
Blowing restlessly,
And stretching taller than the tallest giraffe.

The ice-cold sea, numbing and biting,
Letting the endless ocean,
Scavenge all in its path.

The deadly waves,
Lashing fiercely upon the bruised sand,
Crashing and bashing,
Never ending.

And finally, the brutal lightning,
Crackling like a burning fire,
Uncovering all the dark shadows.

No one can stop it,
Or prevent it,
Just watching, suffering…,
To the violent beauty of nature.
