After school fun in the Science Department
9 November 2023
STEM Club has been busy investigating the colours made when burning metal ions.
Assistant Head of Science, Mrs Potter, said, "We firstly started off with a distanced demo of the different metals on a large scale before trying out on a smaller scale on the Bunsen burners. Not only did this teach pupils the colours of the metal ions but they also got extra chance to develop their lab skills."
What's STEM Club All About?
In STEM Club, pupils will take part in a range of Chemistry, Physics and Biology-themed activities as well as STEM challenges. STEM stands for a collaboration of Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths and will give pupils an excellent opportunity to develop skills such as perseverance and communication.
The club runs every Tuesday after school until 4pm and is open to pupils in Year 7 and Year 8. Pupils who would like to attend should see Mrs Potter in the Science Department.
