We were tremendously proud of our Head Prefects Martha and Cameron, and House Captain Abi, when they laid a wreath on behalf of the school during Penwortham's Remembrance service.

Accompanied by Head of Year 11, Mrs Bailey, the prefects paid their respects at Liverpool Road's war memorial and read out the names of Penwortham's fallen from both World Wars.

The rain just about held off for the event which was well attended by the community and one we were very proud to be a part of.

Richard Yates of 'Friends of Penwortham War Memorial', said "Martha and Cameron were spot on for their recital. Please pass on my thanks to them, they were excellent."

"When you go home, tell them of us and say, for their tomorrow we gave our today."

So what is Armistice?

Armistice was an agreement to end the fighting of the First World War as a prelude to peace negotiations.  It began at 11am on 11 November 1918.

Armistice is Latin for to stand (still) arms.

To this day we mark Armistice Day around the United Kingdom with a two minute silence at 11am on the 11th day of the 11th month.

"At the eleventh hour on the eleventh day of the eleventh month – we will remember them."

Remembrance 2023

Well done to Year 11, Tom, who was part of the honor guard at Preston's cenotaph on Remembrance Sunday.  He represented his air cadets and school with utmost respect.
