Mrs Gidden's cool readers club - Erin
29 April 2019
Priory’s Head of English, Mrs Gidden, has been really impressed with many of our multi-talented pupils lately and wanted to highlight their love of reading while excelling at other pursuits.
This week we interviewed Year 8 pupil, Erin.
Erin is one of Mrs Gidden’s ‘Cool Readers’ and she is also a keen photographer.
Erin is on the Accelerated Reader Programme and is reading ‘Let’s Get Lost’ by Sarra Manning.
“It’s based around an 18-year-old who has no mum and gets involved with alcohol and drugs.
“It’s kind-of a love story but she gets involved with an older guy and lies about her age. It starts off as a bit of a prank but there are consequences.
“It’s interesting because it isn’t a regular love story, it’s a bit different which is what I like about it.
“It’s up there among my favourite books and I also like the Geek Girl series by Holly Smale as I can be a geek!”
When not reading, Erin can be found behind the lens of a camera.
“I got a camera a few years ago and I really enjoy taking photographs. I was at my aunty’s wedding alongside a professional photographer and a lot of my photos were used in her album.
“I like doing landscapes rather than people and have already looked into the fact there is a photography club at UCLAN as I want to keep it up.
“I am interested in science so I am looking into brain neuroscience as that involves photography as well, taking pictures of the brain, so it combines my two loves. It’s a perfect job for me.”
