PE have a go at taekondo
3 December 2019
Last week saw pupils in Years 7-10 given the opportunity for an enrichment taster session of Taekwondo with sessions running in lessons and at lunchtime.
Pupils were instructed by 4th Dan Master Sam Millne-Ellison who currently has two classes running in the evenings, one being at Priory on a Tuesday. The sessions were very well received by pupils, with Sam extremely impressed with the push kicks demonstrated in a number of the groups.
In addition to the evening class we would like to offer the opportunity, for any pupil interested, to sign up for a paid six-week block of sessions on a Wednesday night from 3.20pm-4.20pm beginning in January. Letters will be available in due course, but any pupils who would like to register their interest can do so on a sign-up sheet outside the PE office.
What is Taekwondo?
Taekwondo is a combative sport which was developed during the 1940s by Korean martial artists. Taekwondo is characterised by its head-height kicks, jumping and spinning kicks, and fast kicking techniques with an emphasis on speed and agility.
