Priory goes to the polls on general election day
16 December 2019
To coincide with national events, last week's Character & Culture sessions focused on the General Election.
Pupils reviewed political party manifestos without knowing which party they belong to. Classes then voted on which party they would support, based on manifestos, and teachers have then revealed which actual party they voted for.
These sessions also intended to help pupils relate to what they may have seen in the media. We hope pupils enjoyed it - it certainly seemed to stimulate a lot of discussion!
Class Election Results
As the British public went to the polls yesterday, so did our pupils.
Mrs Hopes has been up all night counting the ballot papers and dismissing the spoils as the race began to see who would be the first to declare. We couldn't take any more suspense so without further ado here are the results from each Priory class (AKA constituencies) as we went to press. As you can see, Labour is the clear winner.
There have been enough votes received so there is no possibility that the winning party will be any different once all class votes have come in.
An interesting result given that Preston voted Labour and all surrounding areas, including South Ribble voted Conservative.
