Mrs Gidden's cool reader's club - Akram
29 May 2020
Priory’s Head of English, Mrs Gidden, has been really impressed with many of our multi-talented pupils and wanted to highlight their love of reading while excelling at other pursuits.
Before the school closure we interviewed Year 7 pupil, Akram.
Akram is juggling two books at once – and they are contrasting!
The Year 7 is reading David Attenborough’s ‘The Living Planet’ as well as ‘Diary of a Wimpey Kid’ by Jeff Kinney.
Akram believes he has reads 27 books since September!
“I like ‘The Living Planet’ because it gives you facts, you learn a lot,” said Akram.
“There is English, science and biology all in one book.
“Diary of a Wimpey Kid is funny, it’s unique. I like the whole series as every book is different and you do not know what to expect from each book.
“One of my favourite books is Gangsta Granny by David Walliams as the story keeps growing until they plot to steal the Crown Jewels. It makes me laugh.”
Akram reads at home and at school and has a host of favourite subjects – English, maths, science and geography.
“I also attend Chess Club every Friday and play football.”
