Science fact of the week #56
16 July 2020
Every Wednesday, Science Teacher Mrs Eastham has provided an extract relating to a topic and asked pupils to find an interesting fact about this topic or person. The challenge was open to pupils in Years 7-10 with the winner announced the following week.
Thank you for all the really interesting facts that you've told me over the summer term. This week was the finale of the challenge and was all about water. Hot and cold water sound different when poured. Water changes viscosity with temperature, the colder the water is the higher the pitch is. Tell me another interesting fact about water?
The science department has voted for the most interesting fact and the winning fact was from...
Fatima H Year 8 (H7) who told us ...
"Eighty percent of the earth’s surface is water. Ninety-seven percent of the earth’s water is saltwater in oceans and seas."
