“I can’t wait to perform in front of an audience.”
That was from Head Girl, Darcy, who will play class teacher Miss Honey in next week’s performance of Matilda.
It has been a while since Priory have been able to put on one of our fantastic shows and a lot of hard work and dedication has gone into making Matilda a success. 45 pupils are taking part – either on stage or backstage – with Miss Howell, praising the talented bunch.
“It’s all coming together now as we ramped up rehearsals to four days a week recently,” said Lead Teacher for Drama Miss Howell. “I am proud of them, they are very talented pupils and have worked incredibly hard.”
Darcy said: “I have enjoyed learning my lines and I can’t wait now. It’s like one big family.”
Lewis plays dance teacher Rudolpho and said: “I am a little nervous as I haven’t been in a school production before but I am a dancer so I am enjoying this role. I do ballroom and Latin dancing and, on stage, I do the Cha Cha with Mrs Wormwood.”
Mrs Wormwood, Matilda’s mother, is played by Holly. “I love playing Mrs Wormwood, she is over the top and confident which I am not so it’s great to have that character.”
Favour is Matilda and she said: “I am enjoying it but it is stressful. My parents are coming to watch me so I am a bit nervous but I am sure it will all fall into place.”
Kyle gets to wear a colourful suit as Matilda’s dad Mr Wormwood. “I love wearing it, it’s very out there. I am nervous but excited.”
The performances are on December 7 and 8 with tickets available via SCOPay or parents/public can pay cash at reception during school hours.
