Here's what our Cool Readers Club is all about...

These are our reading stars put forward by their English teacher.  We interview them about their current book, what they like reading about and what they like to do when they’re not reading.  Introducing Brad...

Year 9 Brad loves horror stories and is currently embroiled in Bram Stoker’s Dracula, which also features other stories by the author. 

Unlike many of his class mates, Brad enjoys novels from the past. 

“I like the way they are written, it’s old English and I think it’s a lot more descriptive than today’s books,” said Brad. 

“I like horror stories, they are my favourite types of books. I like horror films as well, I never need to hide behind a cushion! 

“It’s also good reading a book like this with a lot of stories within it as I don’t have to swap my book every few weeks.” 

Brad’s favourite subjects at school are English or science. 

“I like to write stories at home, mostly horror, and I enjoy reading. 

“I want to be either an author or a marine biologist.” 

Mrs Gidden added, "Brad is a great reader and a keen story writer. His recent 'Who Dunnit' story was compelling and linguistically very well crafted. I always say, those who read well, write well, and Brad is a perfect example of this and I'm excited to see what he comes up with in future work!"
