Last week we invited a theatre company to perform Macbeth to support Year 11 pupils with their English Literature study of the Shakespeare play.

Assistant Head of English, Mrs Robinson-Ali, said, "It really brought the play to life for the students so that they were able to capture the facial expressions, the tone in which lines were spoken and actions on stage to add to what they already knew of the plot.

"The pupils loved the performance and were really engrossed."

Afterwards, the theatre company did a Q&A session on what it was like to perform on stage as a professional actor and answered any questions about the characters as a 'hot seating' activity. This added to the student's understanding of character development within the play.

Pupils later attended a two hour intervention with their English teachers which they have said was really useful and beneficial.
