Meet The Teacher - Miss Asghar
25 March 2025
This is the next in a series of articles where we get to know our trainee teachers. Trainee teachers attend two placements in the academic year so are with us either from September to Christmas or January to June. They initially observe then start to take over sections of lessons, leading to being in charge of several classes by the time they finish their placement with us. Along with assignments and studies in pedagogy, they work towards their Post Graduate Certificate in Education and Qualified Teacher Status by the end of the summer term.
This week we interviewed two trainee teachers who have been taken under the wings of the Drama department.
Meet The Teacher - Miss Asghar (English)
What made you want to become a teacher?
I think it’s a very rewarding career. You can get instant feedback from pupils especially when they understand something, it’s gratifying to see it when it clicks!
I want to inspire future generations and it’s exciting watching them progress from Year 7 through to Year 11.
I attended Manchester Metropolitan University and got a First Class Honours Degree in English and Journalism and am now at Edge Hill University doing my PGCE.
What do you like about your placement at Priory?
Everyone is so friendly and helpful - from pupils to staff.
What's the hardest thing about your job?
Time – there just never seems to be enough time! As a teacher you want to develop a relationship with all the pupils but you need to teach the lessons so it’s finding the balance!
What do you like to do in your free time?
I like to read and I also write a blog about my life.
