Welcome Mrs Gidden - Priory's new Head of English
29 January 2018
Mrs Gidden is the new Head of English at Priory and is passionate about her new role.
“I have been here for three weeks and I feel like I have been here forever, I love it,” said Mrs Gidden.
Mrs Gidden previously worked at Sir John Thursby Community College in Burnley for seven years as Head of Key Stage Four. She trained for her PGCE at the University of Cumbria in 2008 and has a Post-Graduate Diploma in Education.
“I am passionate about my subject. Ms Thornton, the previous Head of English, is so inspiring and I want to carry on the great ground work she and the rest of the staff have done.”
Mrs Gidden was born and raised in Penwortham and attended Penwortham Girls School. She is an examiner on the AQA Board in English Language, which is being introduced into Priory to the current Year 10s ready for their GCSEs next year.
Her favourite book is ‘To Kill a Mockingbird’ but she also enjoys ‘The Crucible’ and ‘Memoirs of a Geisha.’
“I love English and I want my students to also love it. I want to contribute in making the students at Priory decent and literate human beings who are ready to go into the world and do amazing things.”
