Education Awards 2018
22 June 2018
Penwortham Priory Academy awarded ‘Highly Commended’ in all categories entered.
The school’s shortlisted nominees, senior teachers and supporting pupils were invited to the Education Awards presentation ceremony on Wednesday.
Taking place at the Charter Theatre, Preston, the group enjoyed performances from singers and dancers of Preston’s College whilst eagerly awaiting the results to be announced.
Up against two other ‘Secondary School of the Year’ finalists, we were once again pipped to the post by Academy@Worden. Congratulations also went to Suzanne Gardner from Academy@Worden who took the prize we so much wanted English teacher, Mr Wall, to win on his final year with us before retirement.
Well done and congratulations to our young finalists who each received a ‘Highly Commended’ framed certificate:
- ‘Secondary Pupil of the Year’ - O Tomlinson and J Gardner
- ‘Young Scientist/Engineer of the Year’ - C Chan, M Robinson, V Buckley, and M Atherton-Patel (Astronomy Club)
- Sports Achievement Award - L Taylor and H Coyne
These awards, now in their eighth year, celebrate primary and secondary education across central Lancashire. The awards showcase and celebrate the very best students, teachers, schools and employees in the area. The twelve categories recognise the achievements that schools and pupils make within the education sector on a daily basis.
