Priory’s Head of English, Mrs Gidden, has been really impressed with many of our multi-talented pupils lately and wanted to highlight their love of reading while excelling at other pursuits.

This week we interviewed Year 8 pupil, Olivia.

Olivia has goals on the pitch and wants to be an author off it.

The 13-year-old attends Priory’s Netball Club on Monday for enjoyment and is also part of the Accelerated Reader Programme at the school.

So far, Olivia has read and answered questions on a staggering 31 books since September – she thinks that is around 2.8 million words!

“I am currently reading Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake about three sisters who are battling to be queen. They each have a different power they use against each other. It’s a really good book.

“I do read all the time, I like a variety of books but most of all fantasy. My favourite books are the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J Maas which consist of seven books and the main character develops throughout the books.

“My favourite subject in school is English and I would love to be an author.

“Outside of reading I enjoy playing netball every Monday. Last year, I also took part in the Netball Leader course at school to teach primary school children netball.”
