Priory pupils were definitely part of the pick on Tuesday when they joined up with South Ribble Borough Council to support  Keep Britain Tidy.

As part of the #GBSpringClean, the class of Year 7 pupils travelled to Penwortham Holme, led by Head of PE Mr Bullock, to help improve the environment on their doorstep.

The group worked in partnership with the council’s Neighbourhood Services to collect and safely dispose of litter from the area which will then be recycled as much as possible.

Mrs Hopes, Head of Character & Culture praised the event by saying:
“I welcome any opportunity offered to the pupils of Priory to participate in a community event. In particular the support roles, as children can gain valuable team working, resilience, confidence and communication experiences. Of course the enormous sense of achievement our children gain from helping and carrying out positive activities for the community, is our main focus.”

All pupils agreed that litter pollution, including single-use plastic – which degrades the beauty of our environment and threatens to harm wildlife – is just not acceptable.

Many thanks to Booths Supermarkets who supplied pupils with well-earned refreshments.
