Mrs Gidden's cool readers club - Lucas

Priory’s Head of English, Mrs Gidden, has been really impressed with many of our multi-talented pupils and wanted to highlight their love of reading while excelling at other pursuits.

This week we interviewed Year 8 pupil, Lucas.

Lucas admits he reads so much his parents have to tell him to go to sleep!

Lucas is currently reading Dan Brown’s ‘Angel and Demons.’

“In the prologue someone dies so it’s fast paced! I want to finish reading it then I can watch the movie.

“Ever since I have been in Year Two I have been reading older books, I could read Year Six then, and I have always been a reader so I have read a lot of books. My family is a reading family so it’s always been encouraged.

“The only problem is I choose to go to bed early to read and then my parents have to tell me around four times to stop reading as it's getting late.

“My favourite author is Taran Matharu. He has wrote The Summoner series about a boy who is left in the snow and everyone thinks he is a commoner but he is actually a noble and can summon demons. They are really interesting books.

“I also enjoy Philip Pullman’s ‘The Dark Materials’"

In his spare time, Lucas can be found mountain biking and he also says he has his life mapped out!

“I want to be a marine biologist in Australia. I have always wanted to go there and I want to live there and save the coral which produces oxygen and help to save the environment.”
