The new library at Priory is certainly helping pupils become book-aholics!

English teacher, Mrs Elliott, has overseen the development of the library, which has included new shelving units, a quiet room with comfy chairs to sit and read and, most important of all, new books.

“We have spent quite a bit of money on new shelving units to make it easier to see what books are available,” said Mrs Elliott.

“We also have a quiet area and it’s certainly had an impact. You see Year 7s and 8s especially sitting in the quiet area and reading at lunch and breaks. We have also received over £1,000 worth of new books which will be popular.

“Our librarians are volunteers and are keen readers. They have their own rota and duty list and really have kept on top of keeping the library, organised, tidy and well-stocked.”

Librarian Dominic said: “I started being a librarian in Year 7 and I am now in Year 9. We have organised the library and catalogued the books so we know where every one goes. It’s been hard work but enjoyable.

“I am proud when I see people enjoying the library as I know I have helped to make it what it is.”

Priory's librarians are: Verity B, Dominic C, Erin M, Violet S, Lily H, Emily B, Scarlett F, Rhianne L, Josie M, Lucy B, India P, Abigail M, Cora P.
