Year 8 & 9 girls demonstrate passion and resilience in South Ribble rounders tournament
3 July 2024
REPORT BY MISS BEESLEY, GIRLS PE TEACHER
The Year 8s were an absolute credit to the school at South Ribble Rounders Tournament last week. Priory arrived with a team of five against all other teams who had nine players.
Miss Beesley said, "Some might say the odds were against us, but no, the girls decided otherwise, and showed some real grit and determination throughout the whole tournament, even winning one match!"
Lottie K made a superb captain for the team, showing great communication and encouragement. Some smashing shots from all girls left other teams running far for the ball whilst we clocked up the runs.
The girls' fielding was outstanding; their accuracy of throwing and game play helped keep the scores for the other teams down, not leaving much between the final results.
Overall, Priory's Year 8s came sixth out of nine teams, and we could not be prouder of them.
The Year 7 match was scheduled to take place on Wednesday, weather dependent, and this will be the last of the fixtures for the academic year.
Year 9 event took place on 11 June where the girls also placed in sixth.
