Science teacher Mrs Butcher started at Priory in September and brings with her 20 years experience as a teacher.

“I always wanted to be a teacher but I did work in laboratories for four or five years before I did my PGCE at St Martin’s in Lancaster.

“I began as a chemistry specialist but I did a qualification from the Open University in physics so now that’s my main subject although I can teach biology, chemistry and physics.

“I have worked on the Fylde Coast, in Leyland and my last job was in Accrington but, when a job came up at Priory, I really wanted it.

“It’s a school which is always striving to improve, it has high standards and I felt it was the perfect school for me so I was happy when I got the job!

“I love being a teacher. It gives me goosebumps when the penny drops for some pupils or when they say ‘Thanks Miss’ at the end of a class. I love their enthusiasm.”

In her spare time, you can find Mrs Butcher pounding the streets.

“I am a runner. I started doing the couch to 5k a few years ago and I have since run both the Manchester and the Edinburgh Marathons.”
