Priory raises over £1000 for local hospice

Ms Smith praised the generous Priory community who have donated more than £1,000 to Derian House.
The Christmas Jumper Day and the House Colours Day raised a huge amount alongside the Table Top Sale in November and the bake sale at the official opening of the Pod, with the final total £1,086.57.
Derian House helps babies, children and young people, whose lives are too short, to make happy memories in an environment of fun, respect and high quality care. They provide respite and end-of-life care to more than 400 children and young people across the North West.
Derian House’s Community Fundraiser Ann-Marie Fishwick came to collect the money and said: “This is amazing. It’s a fabulous amount of money and this will fund one of our families to go on holiday for a week which will mean the world to them.
“It costs £1,000 to send one family to one of holiday lodges. We have two in the South Lakes and two at Ribby Hall.
“The pupils and their families should be proud that they are helping to change the lives of Derian House families with the money they have raised.”
Lead Practitioner for Personal Development Miss Smith said: “Families have been amazingly generous in such a tough economic climate.
“It’s important to have charity events in school, especially for local charities like Derian House. We have talked to the pupils about the work they do and the pupils understand where their money is going and how it can benefit those less fortunate than themselves, especially at Christmas time.
“We also had an open donation page for families who wished to give more and to raise more than £1,000 has exceeded our expectations so thank you to everyone who contributed in any way.”
