Last Friday, we had the pleasure of welcoming a diverse range of visitors who showcased the vast array of careers available in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Maths (STEAM) - and more - at our annual careers fair.

Taking place in the Sports Hall, students from all year groups were given the opportunity to engage with employers, colleges, and universities, all with the aim of inspiring and informing them about the exciting career pathways in the STEAM sectors. It was particularly heartening to see some of our former Priory pupils return to support the event, reinforcing the invaluable connections we have nurtured over the years.

A special thank you goes to the numerous local and national businesses, as well as education and training providers who made the journey to Penwortham. Their participation ensured that our pupils had the chance to explore various options in the world of work and gain insights into prospective career pathways.

The event was filled with engaging experiences; pupils took part in a hair-raising venture with the National Grid’s Van de Graaff generator and were challenged to a grip test by physiotherapist Jemma Oliver. Additionally, Preston College captivated students’ attention with their ‘Spin The Wheel’ activity, leading to a host of sought-after goodies.

Event organiser and Science teacher Mrs Massey said, “We are passionate about ensuring our pupils are well-informed about career options so they can make open minded choices about their future
“I was really pleased that so many employers and education providers could attend to make this event so beneficial.

She praised the pupils for their engagement, stating, “The pupils were a credit to us, asking insightful questions, interacting with the activities and collating a wealth of information. Some were a little apprehensive about the prospect of talking to people they didn’t know about careers but responded fantastically to the challenge.”

Mrs Massey concluded by extending her gratitude to all visitors for taking the time to inspire the next generation of employees. Your support does not go unnoticed, and we look forward to building even more connections in the future!
