On Tuesday, pupils were served a delightful break-time treat on honour of Shrove Tuesday: American-style pancakes!

The catering team went all out, offering a variety of delicious toppings to suit every taste. Pupils could choose from fresh strawberries, a classic combination of sugar and lemon, rich chocolate sauce, and sweet syrup. The sight of these mouth-watering options had everyone lining up for a taste.

This pancake feast ties into the tradition of Shrove Tuesday, also known as Pancake Day, which is celebrated in many countries around the world. Shrove Tuesday marks the day before the start of Lent, a period of fasting and reflection in the Christian calendar. Historically, it was a day to use up rich ingredients like eggs, milk, and sugar before the Lenten fast, leading to the tradition of making pancakes.

The pancakes were a huge hit and a wonderful way to bring a bit of this tradition into our school.

A big thank you to our wonderful catering team for their hard work and creativity in making break time special.
