Professional development should be underpinned by robust evidence’

(DfE, Standards for Teachers’ Professional Development, 2016)

As modern professionals, we would all agree with the DfE that to make the best choices for pupils we need to understand the robust evidence and research available to us. However, we already have a full time job!

This is where our RIBH can allow you to work smarter and not harder…

How does it work?

  • Educational research and ideas: condensed, presented and offered for discussion.
  • Suggestions of how to apply this best practice in the classroom.
  • Time to plan how best to implement this in your context.
  • Surrounded by colleagues for networking and support, in a modern conference suite.

What have previous delegates enjoyed?

‘Helpful, intelligent and knowledgeable trainer with excellent insights and experience’

‘Lots of practical ideas to take back and implement.’

‘Great atmosphere, helpful discussions and time to start putting actions into place was appreciated.’

Who delivers these seminars?

Kate Thornton is the Research, CPD and Teacher Development Lead at Priory. She has worked in education for 20 years in FE, EBD and mainstream secondary settings, alongside writing articles and presenting seminars for PiXL and Edge Hill University.

She now spends her time delving into research and applying the outcomes she discovers within her classroom and school. Passionate about research and teacher development, she has attained her NPQ in Leading Teacher Development and her Chartered College Certificate in Research Informed Practice.

Assessment and Feedback

‘With freedom comes responsibility’ Eleanor Roosevelt.

With the removal of National Curriculum levels teachers were given the freedom to make decisions about how best to monitor and assess their pupils’ progress. Various models have been developed and trialled within a shifting landscape of best practice.

Let’s go back to the principles of effective assessment together, take on board the experts’ research findings and build the best possible models for our young people so that assessment works as a tool to support learning.

‘Thank you for coming in and delivering such an excellent session. We have had quite a few chats about it in the past week.’  - J. Love, Teaching and Learning Coordinator at Lancaster Royal Grammar School

Kate’s training session was both effective and beneficial.  Her delivery style was approachable, friendly but also professional and very knowledgeable.  We would definitely recommend Kate’s training sessions for other schools, and we will definitely be having her back at our school in the future.’ C Granite, SENCO, Hope High School
