Priory's geographer of the year

Thank you for all your entries for Priory’s 'Geographer of the Year' award. I really enjoyed seeing your ideas on where Geography can take you. 

I was amazed at the wide range of careers you had researched from Hollywood producers to Geoscientists. Yet the entry that stood out was done by Fatima H in Year 8. Her impressive attention to detail hit all the entry criteria and detailed why Geography is so important. Fatima explain how Geography can take you to great heights from the art of Journalism to the technicalities of a Geoscientist and highlighted why skills learnt in Geography are critical for the wider world. 

I would therefore like to congratulate Fatima on becoming Priory’s Geographer of the Year for 2020. 

So, what is next? Do you want to know more about Geography and the world around you? Well look out for a new club starting in September. Once a week for pupils in 7, 8, and 9, Miss Makinson will host the opportunity for you to explore the world around you through fun and exciting activities. She has already planned to look at topics such as travel, Geography in Penwortham, and the natural world.
