Saturday saw over 30 pupils representing Priory in the annual South Ribble Cross Country Championships held at Hutton Grammar School.

The event involved all top runners from the ten schools across the South Ribble Borough with over 80 runners per race.

Being unable to hold the event last year due to Covid, the atmosphere was an energetic one, with perfect running conditions and the weather on our side!

The Year 10 and 11 Boys kicked off the event with a very successful run from Jack G (Year 10) and Jack T (Year 10) who came in 9th and 10th place respectively, qualifying to the next stage, and fellow team mate, Connor M (Year 10) who narrowly missed out in a very respectable 12th.

Race after race across the year groups, saw Priory pupils putting up a good fight with strong finishes from Katie B (Year 11), Abi T (Year 10), Ethan H (Year 8), Anais McM (Year 9), Taylor K (Year 7) and Archie I (Year 7). The Year 7 girls rounded off the event with with two girls, Harriet H and Skye S both placing in the top 30. An excellent effort for their debut.

The PE department would like to thank all pupils for attending and to parents for supporting the event.

Year 10 boys, Jack G and Jack T, have now qualified for the Lancashire Schools Cross Country Championships to be held at Witton Park, Blackburn, on Saturday, 5 February.
