There have been no red cards for two of our pupils who are Level 7 referees!

Year 10 Taylor completed a two-day course at West Moreland County Football Association while Year 10 Ben carried out his two-day course at the Lancashire FA.

Both can referee at junior games, up to Under 14s, and can be found mostly in the Central Lancashire Junior Football League.

Taylor said: “It’s just something I wanted to do. I love football. I play for Leyland Pirates and support Preston North End.

“I like being able to control a game and it’s been ok so far. There have been no red cards, I have had to speak out on a couple of occasions but it’s been manageable.”

Ben said: “I did it for the money as it’s quite well paid! I have given a few yellows out but no red cards, there have been a few serious talks but I can sort it out. Most people are respectful. I wouldn’t mind it as a career.”

They could be following in the footsteps of former Priory pupil, Class of 2012’s Ed Duckworth, now an English Football League referee.
