Maths is everywhere

On Monday, top set Year 10 pupils attended an online presentation on Applied Maths and Core Maths A-Level delivered by the Advanced Mathematics Support Programme, entitled 'Maths All Around Us'.
Maths is used in so many other subjects. Core Maths is a qualification which can sit alongside other A levels or BTECs - pupils watched the engaging session to find out how and why.
Maths teacher, Mr Scott said: The session was aimed at encouraging students to pursue studying Core Maths at A-level. Pupils saw how Maths is used in settings such as Psychology, Business (online marketing techniques and inflation) and Sports (F1 data visualisation). The students were engaged throughout, but were disappointed it wasn't longer!"
The next session delivered by the same programme will be about the Mathematics of Space - looking at some of the challenges faced in space travel and the ingenious solutions. The session will draw on pupils' knowledge of geometry, graphs and equations of motion.
