Priory’s Head of English, Mrs Gidden, has been really impressed with many of our multi-talented pupils lately and wanted to highlight their love of reading while excelling at other pursuits.

This week we interviewed Year 7 pupil, Harry.

Harry admits he is football mad – in life and with his books.

Harry is currently reading ‘Kick Off’ by Jamie Johnson.

“It’s about a kid of about 11 or 12 years old who, when he starts high school, is trying to get into the ‘A’ team, the best team, at school.

“He thought the trials didn’t go very well but he got asked to play with an older age group – and that’s where I am up to! I think it’s going to be a rags to riches story.

“I support Carlisle United as my dad is from there and go and watch them quite a lot. My friends do think it’s a strange team to support but I can get there quite easily and I enjoy following them.

“I play football myself for Penwortham St Theresa’s, I am a defender.”

Away from football, Harry said: “My favourite author is Roald Dahl, his books are child-friendly. I think my favourite is James and the Giant Peach.

“I also play the guitar, I am just learning it at the moment. It’s just for fun.”
