Priory’s Head of English, Mrs Gidden, has been really impressed with many of our multi-talented pupils and wanted to highlight their love of reading while excelling at other pursuits.

This week we interviewed Year 8 pupil, Paige.

Paige has been busy over the Christmas period as she had the main role in Lostock Hall Drama Group’s production of Aladdin – but she still finds time to read.

Paige is currently reading ‘Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events.'

“It’s about three children whose parents have died in a fire when they were young, it’s not the happiest of books! A person is trying to steal their fortune and is following them around whenever they move,” said Paige.

Her favourite author is Daniel Handler, who wrote the Lemony Snicket’s series, but also JK Rowling.

“I have read all the Harry Potter books and watched the films, my favourite is The Philosopher’s Stone.

“I must have read over one million words as, after reading all the Harry Potter books, I have read seven books in the Lemony Snicket’s series and there are 13 altogether.”

At school Paige enjoys art and drama and out of school she pursues her love of drama with the Lostock Hall Drama Group.

“I was shocked and surprised to get the main role of Aladdin in our Christmas pantomime. I had to sing and act.

“I want to study Musical Theatre and be in the West End when I am older.”
