The Great Reading Race - Year 8 winners
25 November 2020
Following on from the Great Reading Race which took place at the end of the half term, Year 8's winning class received their reward this week.
It was a perfect pick-me-up for a dreary Monday afternoon as Class 8E2 got to enjoy milk and cookies during their AR reading session. Having banked an impressive 898,000 words during w/c 19 October, pupils soon proved why they were worthy winners with noses back in their books whilst Mrs Gidden dished out their treat.
Head of English, Mrs Gidden, said, "This class love their reading, having won three times in Year 7 they now have a reputation to protect! Twins Preston and Lily McM compete against each other for who can bank the most words, whilst Jack J and Sam D also hit the top of the leader board last term."
This class also includes 'Get Caught Reading' star, Jack J, and Leon A, Tom P and George R who have clocked up 16 books read between them since the start of September!
Well done to them and also 10E1 who received their treats during Wednesday's AR lesson.
Pupils will ‘race’ again at the end of the Autumn term.
