Priory’s pupil-designed Christmas card will have a topical twist this year!

Jack, now in Year 9, has celebrated a double success as he won the competition last year and his design this year was selected by Mrs Hopes as the winner.

His snowman card has been professionally printed to be sent out to hundreds people across the county as Priory’s official Christmas card as well as Jack receiving a £15 Amazon voucher.

“It’s Christmas so I thought of a snowman and then due to lockdown I made sure he had a mask on,” said Jack. "The colours on it represent the NHS. Once I had thought of the design, I think it took me around 90 minutes.  I love art and like designing and am proud to win the competition again.”

Maya, also in Year 9, was one of the runners-up with her design and wins a £10 voucher.

“I used the Priory logo to represent people putting the star on the tree and Ribble was the Grinch as it’s green! I used a line from a Christmas song and I did make two copies of it so it took me a couple of days.  I like art so this was a good thing to do.”

Eloise in Year 7 was also a runner-up in the competition and she will be given a £5 voucher.

Mrs Hopes, Lead Teacher for Art, said: “Again we are delighted by the quality and the number of entries we received this year. Jack’s design reflects the times we are in and is personalised to the school. His design is bold and will stand out amongst other cards received by our community.  Maya's design was well thought out so we just had to include her work in the card too."

“We hope the entrants will enjoy their prizes this year and look forward to them entering again next year.”

Well done to all pupils that entered - you will each receive a certificate, achievement points and chocolates.

All entrants will have their prizes presented by Headteacher, Mr Eastham, at the end of term.

Designs shown are by: Jack W, Maya P, Eloise G, Charlotte M, Ethan S, Charlie E-H, Layla H, Amy L.
