We now have the results of the Great Reading Race, which ran the last week of the half term.

Drum roll please...

The classes with the most words read w/c 18 October are:

  • Year 7 (by quite a margin!) are Miss Thornton and Miss Ackers' group 7E3 who banked an astonishing 968,000 words in a week between them!
  • The winning class in Year 8 is Mrs Webster's 8W2 with 557,000 words
  • The winning class in Year 9 is Mrs Gidden and Miss Ackers' 9E2 with 786,000 words between them banked.

Head of English, Mrs Gidden, said, "It's wonderful to see the competitiveness between the classes. The 'race' is never dominated by any particular class so it's really pleasing to see that all of them equally have their chance - so keep on reading!"

Well done to all who raced.  The winning team in each year group will receive milk and cookies in their next AR Reading Hour.

Pupils will ‘race’ again at the end of the Autumn term.
