Here's what our Cool Readers Club is all about...

These are our reading stars put forward by their English teacher.  We interview them about their current book, what they like reading about and what they like to do when they’re not reading.  Introducing Rhea...

Talented Rhea enjoys reading but also has a love of textiles.

The Year 9 pupil has just started ‘Holes’ by Louis Sachar which was made into a Walt Disney film in 2003.

It’s about a boy who was sent to a correctional boot camp in a desert after being falsely accused of theft and explores issues of racism, homelessness, illiteracy and arranged marriage.

“I am interested to read this,” said Rhea. “I generally like books on love and fantasy.

“My favourite authors are Colleen Hoover, whose books are love stories with some danger, and David Walliams as his books are just funny.

“My favourite subjects in school are history and maths, I enjoy them both.”

On Saturdays, Rhea attends a Fashion and Illustration course at UCLAN.  “At the moment we have to design a dress using a famous artist and put your own twist on it.

“I chose Vincent van Gogh and his painting ‘Starry Nights’. It’s something I enjoy but I am not sure how far I want to take it.”

Rhea's English teacher, Miss Nicholls, added, "Rhea has always been an enthusiastic reader (now turned librarian!) and has filled in at least three reading logs, front and back! Her Accelerated Reader word count is well into the thousands and continues to grow. Rhea is always on the hunt for a new books and when she isn't doing that, she's making sure that the library is spic and span!"
