Year 7 pupils receives high sheriff's young citizen award
24 April 2024
We are so proud of Year 7 pupil, George, who has been presented with a High Sheriff of Lancashire’s Young Citizen Award 2024 Commended Certificate for helping to rescue an elderly lady who had fallen.
George said: “I was leaving my auntie’s house in Chorley and a police woman asked if I could climb through a window as a lady had fallen over inside the house and they couldn't get access.
“It was on the ground floor, so I climbed through, climbed over the settee and saw her on the floor. She was conscious. I unlocked the door, kept the lady calm and an ambulance came.
“I thought that was it but the police lady said I would get something special.”
The PCSO was Liz Coleman who was attending the emergency but couldn’t access the property without George’s help.
George and his mum went to Chorley police station at a later date and got presented with his special award from the Superintendent for Lancashire, Gary Crowe.
