Classroom, Careers and Community: Pupils Help Shape Penwortham’s Future With Pell Frischmann

In July we welcomed Pell Frischmann to work with our Year 7 Pupils on their careers day.

Pell Frischmann is a specialist advisory and technical consultancy operating across the built and natural environment. Pell Frischmann is currently working on the project to redesign Liverpool Road in Penwortham.

The team had an hour workshop with each Year 7 class. During the workshop pupils were introduced to Pell Frischmann's work, the roles within the organisation and their entry requirements.

During the second half of the session, pupils were set a task to design their own Liverpool Road plan. Pupils were given dimensions, requirements for space usage and their measurements. Pupils quickly realised that incorporating space for moving cars, bicycles, pedestrians, parking, and green spaces can be a challenge.

Pell Frischmann used this activity as an opportunity to include local youngsters in the planning of the space, with the potential for some ideas to be progressed through to fruition.

Ms Smith said, "We are grateful to the Pell Frischmann team for giving up their time to involve our pupils in a project in their locality. The session was a great insight into careers that pupils may not have considered, but can have a huge impact on communities and provide a lasting legacy. Pupils enjoyed the session and a number saw the industry as a potential future career path."
