As part of Culture Week, pupils enjoyed a deliciously creative session at the Food Technology Department's After School Creative Cookery Club. Open to all year groups, the workshop was led by Mrs Qadri and Mrs Lockwood, and gave pupils the opportunity to explore food traditions from different cultures through hands‑on cooking.
During the session, pupils learned how to make samosas and spring rolls, practising important food‑preparation skills such as chopping, folding and seasoning. They discovered that samosas are traditional triangular pastries, popular in South Asia and beyond, often filled with spiced potatoes, peas or meat. Spring rolls offered another cultural contrast, showing how similar ingredients can be prepared in different ways across the world.
The Food Technology Room was filled with teamwork, enthusiasm and wonderful aromas as pupils worked together to create their dishes. The session was a fantastic way to celebrate culture through food, while also building confidence, creativity and practical life skills.
