On Wednesday, 29 April, Penwortham Priory Academy welcomed Rational UK to school for a day of filming as part of a customer story and publicity project.  Rational UK supply ovens and alike to the catering and hospitality sector and contacted Priory for the piece which would celebrate the impact of their catering equipment in our educational setting.

Rational UK, who supply the iCombi and iVario Pro ovens used in both our main kitchen and outdoor facility, the Pod, spent the day capturing the excellent work of our catering team and the high quality food being produced for pupils. Filming took place across the kitchens, dining areas and wider school environment, providing a full picture of the catering provision at Priory.

The team spoke with Catering Managers Mrs Billings and Mrs Morley, who shared a chef’s perspective on how the equipment supports efficiency, consistency and menu quality, as well as Strategic Estates Development Manager Mr Bolton, who was instrumental in the decision to invest in the ovens and discussed their benefits from an operational and sustainability viewpoint.  Assistant Principal Miss Thornton was also interviewed about the importance of providing good quality, nutritious food, including initiatives such as First Bite of the Day, to ensure pupils are well fuelled and ready to learn.

In addition, Rational UK interviewed a small group of pupils, who talked confidently about their favourite dishes and their experience of school meals. Those who volunteered to take part gained a valuable insight into the world of film production, learning about camera work and lighting, and experiencing first hand what it’s like to be interviewed on camera.

We would like to thank all staff involved and especially the pupils – Haylan, Ernie, Quinn, Dylan and Deborah - who represented the school so positively, stepping outside their comfort zones to take part in a professional media project. It was a fantastic opportunity and an experience they can take forward into their future education and careers.
