Priory’s Head of English, Mrs Gidden, has been really impressed with many of our multi-talented pupils lately and wanted to highlight their love of reading while excelling at other pursuits.

This week we interviewed Year 8 pupil, Logan.

Logan started the Accelerated Reader Programme in September and has read more than 12 books in this time.

“I am currently reading Wonder by RJ Balacio about a boy with a facial disfigurement who starts school and his bid to be accepted,” said Logan.

“My favourite books are the Harry Potter ones, I like all the detail in them.

“I also like sports autobiographies. I read Joey Barton’s, it’s controversial but I enjoyed finding out more about his background.

“I have also read Luis Suarez’s autobiography, I enjoyed the insight into his life, about his life in Uruguay before he came to England, how he had to spend a lot of money just to go training when he was younger.

“By January I had read 1,008,000 words and I am proud of being a word millionaire.”

Away from reading, Logan enjoys football and follows PNE.  “My favourite player is Ben Pearson as I am a defensive midfielder for the school football team. My dad supports Greenock Morton in Scotland so I also plan to go and watch them one day.”
