Mrs Gidden's cool readers club - Jazmin
5 February 2019
Priory’s Head of English, Mrs Gidden, has been really impressed with many of our multi-talented pupils lately and wanted to highlight their love of reading while excelling at other pursuits.
This week we interviewed Year 8 pupil, Jazmin.
Jazmin is shooting for the stars – as she wants to be a professional footballer.
Jazmin is currently reading Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by American author Ransom Riggs.
“It’s about a boy who is trying to find out where his grandfather used to live as his grandfather told him ghost stories about the house.
“I haven’t read enough yet to know if there are ghosts!”
Jazmin’s favourite author is award-winning John Green who wrote books like ‘The Fault in Our Stars’.
“I like him because his stories are real, they are about real teenage problems.”
Away from reading, Jazmin can be found playing for Lostock Hall in the West Lancs League as a central midfielder.
“I have played football since I was six. I attended trials for Lancashire Under 14s recently, there were 100s of girls, and I got selected.
“We have played a couple of county games so far and I hope to be picked up by an academy. Teams like Manchester United, Liverpool and Blackburn Rovers are strong around here.
“I want to be a professional footballer and my ambition is to play for England.”
