Mrs Gidden's Cool Readers Club - Katie

Priory’s Head of English, Mrs Gidden, has been really impressed with many of our multi-talented pupils and wanted to highlight their love of reading while excelling at other pursuits.

Before the end of the summer term we interviewed Katie, now in Year 8.

Katie has her sights set high – she wants to work for NASA.

Katie is an avid reader at Priory and is currently hooked on The Spooks Apprentice by Joseph Delaney.

“It’s about Thomas who goes for a job as a spooks apprentice and he is facing a witch who is trying to kill him.

“One of my mum’s friends recommended it to me and as soon as I read the first page, I was hooked. I have the next three in the series to read.

“I read a lot and have read all Derek Landy’s Skullduggery series, where there are 12 books. 

I enjoyed them, there is a range of characters and adventures and it’s about magic.”

Katie attends Priory’s STEM Club and Science Club and will be joining the Air Cadets in the Autumn.

“I want to go to America and work for NASA. I love astronomy, physics and palaeontology, my favourite subject is science.

“Even though I deal with facts in science, I like the fantasy books.”
