World Book Day
4 March 2021
It's World Book Day! Not to let a pandemic get in the way, the English department has got lots of fun things for our pupils to get involved with.
Throughout the day, staff will be sharing their story with their classes to spark discussion about books. What's their favourite childhood book? What're they currently reading? Teachers also will read an extract from a book and ask pupils why do they think they chose to share it - which book they would share, and why? Below is Headteacher, Mr Eastham's story - not many of us are lucky enough to have an author for a sister!
Of course, no World Book Day would be without a design competition so this year Mrs Gidden is asking pupils to design a book cover for their favourite book. You've got to be quick though as the comp closes on Friday at 2pm. Submit your entries to your English teacher. Don't forget that this must be YOUR redesign, not a copy of its original cover.
And finally, a World Book Day that involves Maths?? Yes, that's right! Essentially, it's a book quiz but there's a code to break when you find the answers. Work out the secret code and you're in with chance of winning a prize. Deadline Thursday at 3pm.
