What's the music this week? w/c 23 January

This week it's all about: Music from around the world

The link to the country may be found in either the origin of the artist or the composer. Many songs will be sung in different languages though some such as those by Scandinavian artists, will be sung in English. Orchestral work will relate to the nationality of the composer.

The selection is across time, across genre and across the globe from A-ha to Tchaikovsky via Nana Mouskouri and Nicolo Paganini.

MABAL is music played through the school's sound system during break and lunch.  Chosen by Mr Taylor, Lead Teacher for Music, this is designed to offer exposure to the curriculum in different ways, and support pupils' appreciation of music.

The focus is on one theme each week across a genre, a country or from history.  The theme could also link to the season or an event in school, such as the production.  Any further suggestions are welcomed - pupils should see Mr Taylor or email a.taylor@priory.lancs.sch.uk
