Mrs Gidden's cool reader's club - Poppy

Here's what our Cool Readers Club is all about...

These are our reading stars put forward by their English teacher.  We interview them about their current book, what they like reading about and what they like to do when they’re not reading.  Introducing Poppy...

Poppy is multi-talented Priory pupil who is debating between a lawyer and an interior designer in her future career! 

Poppy is currently reading ‘Paper Butterflies’ by Lisa Heathfield. 

“It’s about a girl who has a mean step mum and step sister and even her dad doesn’t know they make fun of her.” 

The description of the book says June, the girl, is ‘trapped like a butterfly in a jar until she meets Blister and there is hope that she can find a way to fly away. But freedom comes at a price.’ 

“I like fantasy, adventure and thriller books and to be taken to another world,” continued Poppy. 

“In school, I enjoy Art, Drama and English. 

“I have thought about either being a lawyer in the future or an interior designer. I have designed my own bedroom at home and it’s cool. It has purple LED lights, cool bedding and a lavender wall. 

“At home, I draw and read a lot but I also like horse-riding. I have two horses – Ruby and Joey.” 

Poppy's English teacher, Mrs Elliott added, "Really proud to see Poppy 'popping' up as our Cool Reader this week. She's a great pupil and a really keen reader which is always something to be celebrated and encouraged.  Next time I need some interior design ideas I'll know where to go!  Well done Poppy."
